Biographical Info I optimised my education to become a scientist in the field of psychological sciences by combining my background in neuropsychology with advanced statistical and methodological techniques. This background strengthened my research skills to combine rigorous methodology with the multifaceted clinical environment, and the use of technologically advanced techniques such as neurostimulation, Virtual Reality, and advanced robotic prosthetics. I achieved the PhD in Experimental Psychology, Linguistics and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Milano-Bicocca in January 2014 with a thesis entitled “Body representation shapes the responses to threatening stimuli” focused on the interaction between body representation and pain processing. I received the prestigious “Ennio DeRenzi” award in 2013 from the Società Italiana di NeuroPsicologia (SINP) and a travel award from the Japan Neuroscience Society (JNS) in 2014. In 2019, I won the Brains to South grant (funded by Fondazione con il Sud) for my project "Dementia Network", aimed at studying the neuropsychological assessment of elder people with a network analysis approach. In 2018, I co-founded the BASIC-NPSY research group, aimed at developing and disseminating the Bayesian statistical approaches for neuropsychology. With the BASIC-NPSY group, we organise a yearly Summer School about Bayesian Statistics in psychological sciences. On this topic, I am currently developing a new method that extends the Bayesian approach of multilevel analysis to the study of single cases (Scandola & Romano. Bayesian Multilevel Single Case model (BMSC): A new statistical approach to single-case studies). In my career, I interacted with several groups of research throughout Europe. I was visiting PhD student at the Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience directed by Prof Olaf Blanke at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) in 2012. I have been visiting researcher at Birkbeck University of London, in the lab directed by Prof Matthew Longo, and visiting researcher at University Campus Bio-Medico, under the supervision of Prof Giovanni Di Pino in 2017. In 2018, I was visiting researcher at the IONS/COSY lab directed by Prof Valéry Legrain and Prof André Mouraux at the Institute of Neuroscience of the Université Catholique the Louvain (UCL - Brussels, Belgium).
