‘Plasticity, Connectivity and Neurodegeneration’

One of the theories put forward to explain Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is that which explains the disease as a catastrophic failure of cerebral plasticity.  In this talk I will explore the role that increased demands for neuroplastic activities might have on AD pathogenesis, how failure of this mechanism might explain the patterns of impairment observed by studies of functional connectivity measured by resting state fMRI and how it is possible to interfere with this process of failing plasticity and breaking down of connectivity with a network based cognitive stimulation approach. **********************************************************
